If you wonder what is Noorani Qaida and Tajweed, let’s first briefly talk about them.

What is Noorani Qaida?

Noorani Qaida is a building block. It’s a small booklet designed to teach you everything you need to read the Quran correctly.

In Arabic, Qaida refers to a small book and Noorani is picked from the name of the author who compiled the book.

Whether you’re a non-Arab or an Arab, if you need to learn all the rules for reading the Quran, you need to start with Noorani Qaida.

For instance it covers:

  • Recognizing and pronouncing Arabic letters
  • Combining letters together
  • Learning essential rules (Tajweed)
  • Reading Quranic words correctly
  • Transitioning from Noorani Qaida to the Quran

The booklet was compiled by Indian scholar Sheikh Noor Muhammad Haqqani. The idea was to help students read the Quran with all Tajweed rules.

Although there are alternatives such as Noor Al Bayan, Yassarnal Quran and Qurani Qaida. But Noorani Qaida is a widely available beginner’s book.

It makes the Quranic journey super easy.

To understand Noorani Qaida and learn the exact articulation, you need a teacher to show you everything practically.

Fortunately, this guide covers every aspect in detail.

What is Tajweed?

Tajweed is a very common terminology students of the Quran use throughout their studies.

In Arabic the word means to make better, to improve or to beautify.

Essentially, it is the knowledge and application of a set of rules which make possible the reading of the Quran in a correct way.

What’s the correct way?

The way Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) recited!

So when you learn the Tajweed rules, you intend to read the Quran as close as possible to the way the Prophet recited it.

We will discuss and implement Tajweed rules in the sections wherever required.
